The 2022-2023 SGFL has come to a close and the champion is...well....me:
I certainly have thoughts on the matter, lots of them, and a lot of them not just from today but from the past 6 weeks - the journey that ends here.
First Lets get some numbers out of the way:

Team Legit Weird and Annoying is the lowest seeded team to win a championship in the 7 years this league has been running. The runner up? Team BG 4Hunnit, who at the time were called "The Weekenders" due to their propensity to drop the majority of their points on the weekend and usually go from losing the week to winning it after the point onslaught.
That team's record when it won the championship in 2018 was 12 wins and 6 losses, and was the 4th ranked team. Interestingly enough that year the 3 teams ahead of "The Weekenders" all were tied with a record of 14 wins and 4 losses. For comparison, Team Legit Annoying and Weird's record this season was 8 wins and 10 losses. In the 7 seasons of this league, there have been 5 teams that have had an 8-10 record. Only 2 of those teams made it into the playoffs, both as 8 seeds (Arshad Jaffery Ass Whopping in 2018 and The Ball Brothers in 2022). Only one of those teams made it out of the first round and neither of them made it to finals. So yes - it's felt a bit like I was flying in rare air here.
I think it's also worth considering that the top 3 teams this year were really, really good. Thunder Struck finished with a league best 15 wins this year which is the 3rd highest number of wins of all time (The other two are 16 wins in 2020 by Kawhi Me a River and 17 wins in 2022 by....Thunder Struck). The second place team had 14 wins but despite the extra loss actually scored ~500fpts more than Thunder Struck and was the number 1 team in my rankings.
It also should be noted that I started the season with 5 straight losses. My record in the first 12 weeks was 3-9.
