I missed the tornado, as the tornado passed over the campus possibly. The first three pictures would suggest there was a tornado or at least wall cloud. A wall cloud is the first stage of a tornado. If a wall cloud touch down the ground then it is called a tornado. The first three pictures are taken from my apartment complex looking at campus from southwest corner. I chase the storm east for about 15 miles. I didn’t see another tornado but I did get some good pictures of the storm and its structure.

I went ahead and numbered the pictures, i thought it would make it easier to comment on the specific pictures that way
ReplyDeleteI guess one thing would be that I really am not trained in looking at cloud formations to tell them apart much. In picture 2 i think is the most obvious view of the 'cloud wall'. While you can see the cloud well visibly in 1-3, i think 2 shows a clearer definition of that cloud wall, in that you can see the shape of the tornado, while also noticing that it is still a ways away from the ground.
Im not sure if im looking at this correct, but does picture 9 show a clear example of high and low pressure winds? The lighter(whiter) clouds look like they are much closer to the ground, and you can see that swirl effect coming into play as it it seems to be mixing with the darker clouds.
I think now im asking myself which clouds represent which pressure....i think the clouds that are further from the earth, are probably part of the high pressure, which makes the dark clouds part of the low pressure...and if they mix you get a cloud wall?
Picture number 15 intrigues me as well. Whats with the gap, is that where the Eye of a tornado would be? Is that where the high and low pressure winds converge?
Next time you should make a video as well, so we can see the cloud movement as well.....
