Possibly Semi Annual Basketball Game: Prequel

On saturday, 4:30pm, somewhere in the vicinity of Elmhurst, close to my old home in Franklin Park, a hopefully huge basketball game will be taking place.

I know with so many things having changed in the last 6 years, me and my high school buddies dont really get much of a chance to talk to each other via text, much less actually hang out. And with so many new changes in our lives, its hard to just play catchup, so i do look forward to our basketball encounters because i often feel during this time that which has changed over the years doesnt matter, as everything seems to be 'just like its always been'.

But lets not dwell on the emotional thoughts of mine of this game, lets focus on what this game is, and something that i hope can come close to becoming a tradition for all of us.

This post is a quick report on the two teams in this game. Of course this is probably a very shoddy account since neither team has really ever played as a team, but more a focus on what i can recall of everyones games and what should be expected. I dont think anyone read this before the game, but hopefully ill be able to record footage of the game and post it on this blog and people will accidently read this post when looking for the video. ON TO THE REPORT

The teams

Team G-Bus
Guard: Josh-A meticulous ball handler who likes to seprate his offensive posessions into one on one situations, force his matchup to make an error, and utilize his surgical ballhandling and wide body to take the easy shots.
Strengths-Ball/Body Control, Patience
Weakness-Lingering Injuries (especially in the hand) Rust and lack of stamina

Guard: Serge-A fundementally sound shooter whos continued observation of the nba game gives him a strong advantage mentally over impatient ballers. He is a consistent shooter, a smart passer, a feisty defender, and most importantly...a great teammate.
Strengths-Shooting ability/consistency, high b-ball iq
Weakness- Limitations in offensive moves

Forward: Roland- Ive only played with him twice, but from what i remember roland was a high energy, never give up, x factor of a player. He has a strange shooting form but one that he has probably utilized since gradeschool, which means its incredibly consistent. Good size and length, and a very good motor and passion for the game helps make player who can cause damage to the opposition if left unchecked
Strengths-High Motor, Size and Length
Weakness-limited ball handling, limited offensive moves

Forward: Jesus- Chek the scouting report for some more information. I am counting on his rust to slow him down considerably. I'll keep it short, at his best he can play all 5 positions really well (by our standards) at his worst he is a tall guy with a high basketball iq. Either way its trouble
Strengths-(mind explodes)
Weakness-Rust...hopefully lots of Rust

Center: Jorge- A defensive wall, theres no going through him and his football trained quick feat make him hard to go around. Offensively he plays more like a sf, and that is both his weakness and strength. If he puts his head down on a drive...get out of his way!
Strengths-Strength, Lateral Movement
Weakness-Iffy decisions on offense

Team: Circadian Rhythem

Guard: Double J, aka Juju aka My brother- He idolizes kevin durant now, so expect jumpshots, lots of jumpshots, and iffy game everywhere else. He has become a skilled ball handler, but his questionable decision making and inability to lead can cost him a win, and the respect of a team.
Strengths-Offensive moveset, midrange jumper
Weakness-Everything Mental

Guard: Naveel, aka, My cousin- As far as skillset go, he is probably a prototypical sg. Check the scouting report section for more detail. He can shoot, he can defend, he can put the ball on the floor and attack, he can pass, hes smart and unselfish, he is unafraid to shoot. He isnt strong or big enough to play sf, and he isnt a good enough ball handler or passer to play point guard. He is a sg, and he wants to win..always.
Strength-Skillset suits team needs
Weakness-Ball handling

Forward: Alberto- Beto is an uber athletic defender. Offensively he lacks polish, but defensively he is quick, powerful, and tenacious. Utilizing soccer footwork and a growing understanding of the game, he has xfactor written all over him.
Strengths-Athletic ability, footwork
weakness-offensive ability

Forward: Me- I relish in the little things, im good at them, no one cares. Lets move on
Strengths-The little things
Weakness-The big things

Center: Justin- The most controversial player! okay, not really. He was always very skilled in the block, and knew how to use his body. Now supposedly he has lost quite a bit of weight and has become quicker and more dedicated to the game. What will this new training and physique bring, no one knows...but he was a handful for defensives to begin with, if he truly has gotten fitter, he might be unstoppable.
Strengths-ability to play in the post (offense)
weakness-Distracting mouth
