Wondering where that name came from? Ask my family....
This is Blog-A-Baba, its going to be my little experimental blog. I made it for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is to promote the Friday Family vs Friends Basketball Games (as you can tell from the background image. ). I will be updating this blog at least twice a week with stuff related to those friday games. Here are my plans for this blog:
- To upload videos of our games- I dont want to just upload full games though. I would like to eventually start cutting up clips, make highlight reels for everyone, and even maybe do a sportcenter like Top 10 and Not Top 10 video for every week (or perhaps month) but no promises on that yet.
- To write my synopsis of every game- What i liked, what i didnt like, what games were good. Obviously this will be something i would want all of you to contribute to as well.
- Misc stuff-Things like random awards, nba comparisons, and scouting reports.
- Whos in and Whos not- This is something that has more to do with you guys. If everyone who plays basketball with us on Friday joins this blog, then we can use it as a way to update who is coming and who is not. We can also use this to figure out car pool and where to eat afterwards, etc.
The last part is a key reason why you should join, since I want to make it more open for people to come to this event however since a lot of people rely on knowing who is going to go before they concede if they are in, this is a way to do it. I'll be more specific on each concept as i get to it, but for now its a general plan. I also will mess around with the technology a bit more and see what else i can do and add to make this place a bit more user interactive
To join this blog, you just need to have a gmail account (i think theres other ways, like using yahoo, but it seems a google account is the simplistic method. I would want everyone to join at least just to post if you are in for that weeks basketball game or not. You dont have to comment (or even read) anything else, this is just a good way for everyone stay connected with all those who play basketball, without having to invite or add them to your face book, use precious text messages or talk time, and to minimize confusion. The rest of the posts will be bonus, plus the videos might interest many of you.
So Welcome to Blog-A-Baba, i hope you enjoy your stay, and i hope it becomes a longer one than you might have initially have thought. I already have a few posts in mind and i have to set up some of the links to some of the vids I have already uploaded, but for now go ahead and comment on the general feel of this place below as a test post. Hows the layout, is the font hard to read, any changes or anything else you'd like me to try to add.

ReplyDeleteHeh, I actually have the option already to add advertisements to the site, except it also adds tons of popups and makes the site just look plain ugly.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Shazil already started promoting it...He just called and reminded me to check it out. It looks pretty good. the layout and everything is good just the way they are. the only thing we need is now to have more people follow it

ReplyDeleteI am sure more people will join in after we finally play basketball. I'm just trying to add more content to give people a reason to check this site out. KC already "whatever"ed it so...i dont think he will join...maybe if i tell him theres money in it...
I like it, but I request a weekly summary of the Friday games in addition to recaps of any Bulls games. I will be working nights and doubt I will get to see or play much basketball. Also, I don't have a computer so forgive my late replies to any comments. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteGlad you like it, yea im gonna maybe change a few of the sections, it seems i cant make separate blog posts for each section. Ill figure it out. Since my cousins are going to the spurs bulls game tonight (lucky) I think ill make a post game thread that way they can write about how the game was (and plz, no standalone comments of "IT WAS AWESOME" cuz i know it was awesome...actual insight would be prefered) and after i watch the game tonight I'll post my thoughts on it as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jesus, congrats on the new job. Although it sucks that you wont be showing up for basketball for quite a while. If theres a way to free up your friday evenings, i hope you take it.
