Alright guys, videos are now up, head out to the video page to check them out. I gotta apologize for the constant stop and go of the video (meaning its not seamless, and seems very cut up) Obviously trying some different Experiments here with the video recording. I think the best recording was actually done by my cousin Atiq, he had a great view from the sideline and kept the camera moving to capture most of the action.
I think I want to keep that sort of recording up, yet at the same time realize that it cant always be one person since at some point everyone will be playing. I'm looking into getting some kind of tripod like feature, so that if no one is available to walk around with the camera, we can at least leave it in some spot where it can continue to capture footage. I sort of dislike the fact that whole moments of the games are lost due to the fact that the camera was shut on and off at seemingly random times. I have a few ideas and will continue to tinker around with them this week, hopefully by the 17th Ill have it all set up.
Ill mention again that I want this blog used for two significant reasons. One is obviously the videos, but the more important reason I want everyone to use this blog is as a means to communicate. Instead of constantly texting around or being up in the air about whats going on this friday, I rather that people can come to this blog and sort of ask questions or find answers about the coming week like whos coming, whether or not the gym is booked, etc. I think this blog would work better than, say a facebook, because Unlike facebook you dont actually have to invite the various people who come play basketball to your personal social network. Of course, i would love for you guys to read and criticize my writing...but thats far more optional.
Back to my thoughts on this last friday. I had fun, and I definitely thought the games were fairly competitive (although, my team had a distinct advantage in terms of stamina due to our extra man). I think the last time we played with jesus was probably a bit more fun, mainly because i still saw people this week that didnt look like they were enjoying themselves too much. We played 5 5v5 games, and to be honest i cant recall what happened in most of them (it all blurs together for me) I do remember the last game though, which wasnt recorded...and man did my team rock in that one.
My brother got injured early, and though often times that would have made the offensive side for my team difficult, everyone stepped up (and naumans team got tired. The best performance in that game came from naveel who knocked down 3 two-point shots, including a game winner. This actually led to my favorite moment of the night, which was hearing naveel yell "YEA!" and then trying to contain his joy for his hot shooting (he doesnt really show much emotion during serious games so it was kind of out of nowhere).
As for the M.V.P. of the week, I give it to the first timer (but not to the game of basketball) Mahid. He played extremely hard, and did everything that was needed, he passed, he played point, he shot 3s, he posted up, he drove, he defended the paint, he defended the perimeter, and he often found himself carrying the team without ever showing anger or distress, always stayed positive and offered positive reactions to everyone. It was a great first impression, and for the work he did, I think he had more of an impact than Mo or Nauman (mahids team won the series). Hes my choice for this weeks M.V.P.
You can check out the new Weekly Awards section, where I will point out key players of the week. I'll update it every week. You may have also noticed that i added a new page for scouting reports. This will be my ongoing project (expect it done by the hiatus of the 11th) and Ill continue to work on updating every week after games. If you wanna track your progress, that would be the page.
So comment, gripe, and critique below...I'll definitely be reading, and i think more people will start to do so as well. And also, thanks guys for giving my blog a chance, it seems stupid...but this means a lot to me...
Yeah last Friday was a lot of fun even though i didn't score a lot of points, it still felt great to win the series. Agreed with with MVP choice made by you. Mahid worked his butt off not just in 5on5 but the 3on3 we played earlier. As far as the tripod concern, i think chachu already has one so may be we could borrow it. I'll bring my video camera so the quality will be better than cell phone of course.
ReplyDeleteI think in future, team Nauman need to gather at least 6 players so they could sub as well.
After watching the videos i'm already pumped up and looking forward to have an awesome time this coming friday and i think people should start confirming if they are coming, just so we can get an idea how many people will come.
With that said, Omair, is there any way to create like a table or something with everyone names so if someone wants to confirm he can just check mark on the table. i don't know.
Nicely done fellas I confirmed for Friday Inshallah
